Nanomaterials are materials synthesized at the nanoscale between 1-100nm. Their properties can differ greatly from their larger counterparts. For example, a gold coin is soft and yellow at normal scale but becomes hard and red at the nanoscale. Nanomaterials have many applications including in medicine for targeted drug delivery, in diagnostics like cancer detection, and in cosmetics like sunscreens with efficient UV protection. They can cross cell membranes and offer localized targeted delivery of drugs while maintaining drug solubility.
